Botany 2026 in Tucson was so much fun!!
This year, I presented my research on the genomic signatures of stomatal evolution in Orobanchaceae at a colloquium organized by Dr. Maribeth Latvis, Dr. Dave Tank, and Dr. Sarah Jacobs. The colloquium covered several aspects of the research being done on the coolest parasitic plant group (I’m biased, I know….).
I was also part of the PLANTS again this year, which aims to make the conference more welcoming to undergrads! Being a mentor in this program always brings me so much joy. See a picture of this year’s cohort at the bottom of this page.
I always come back from this conference with so many ideas for future projects and things I want to incorporate into my research. It is always so good to catch up with old friends and meet new people, especially with the traditional free tequila shots at 5:30 pm every day on the hotel patio, amazing Mexican food, and margs!
